Transportation & Travel in Ashford
Located between Boston and New York, and Hartford & Providence meant early travelers found there way to the crossroads of Ashford. Roads, laid by committees elected at the Annual Town Meeting, were obviously configured to provide local farmers with the fastest, safest routes to market and direct routes from Hartford to Boston and Providence. What that meant for the towns history is still debated today.
